MKs Rachel Azaria and Roy Folkman come out of civil society. Each of them once worked at organizations that we at NIF are proud to support: Mavoi Satum (which fights for women’s rights within the religious court system) and Sikkuy (one of the strongest voices for Jewish-Arab equality in Israel).

And while their wiggle room is limited by the governing coalition agreement that includes their party, the razor-thin majority that this government relies on in the Knesset means that these two MKs can still have a real impact. The extremists within the government can’t afford to bring this bill to a vote without knowing that a majority of Knesset Members will actually show up to vote in favor.
